About this project
This site documents the release history of MU Online — every version, season and notable patch from the 2001 closed alpha in South Korea through to the current season. It currently covers 78 releases, 602 individual changes and 490 cited sources.
Credits
All of the historical research presented here comes from the AlighieriDemiurgs/MuHistory repository.
Every date, patch note, correction and citation was gathered, verified and cross-referenced by the maintainer of that project — including the archival work of tracking down long-dead Korean patch pages through the Wayback Machine. Full credit for the content belongs to them.
This site contributes only the presentation layer. It is an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by the MuHistory maintainer. For the canonical, actively maintained version of the history — and to submit corrections to it — go to the source repository.
Sourcing
Nearly every entry carries one or more citation numbers. Those link to the references page, where each source points at an archived copy of the original patch note, announcement or press release — most via the Wayback Machine, since the original Korean pages are long gone.
Where sources conflict or evidence is thin, the timeline says so directly in a nested note under the entry rather than picking a side silently.
How the site is built
The whole timeline lives in a single research document, source.md. A build script (scripts/split-source.mjs) splits it into one markdown file per season, extracts the reference list into JSON, and rewrites the inline citation markup into links. Astro then renders those as static pages — no client-side framework, no database.
That document is a copy of the upstream MuHistory research, so factual corrections belong there rather than here — this site picks them up when it re-syncs and rebuilds.
The source code for this site is on GitHub. Bug reports and fixes to the presentation — layout, navigation, the build script — are welcome there.
